BLUE RIDGE - Carol Anne Purdham, 62, of Blue Ridge, went Home to be with The Lord on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
She was born Aug. 4, 1947, in Newport News, Va., daughter of the late Lars George Larson and Gladys Vick Larson.
Carol fought a courageous battle with cancer for 12 years; during her fight she never lost her faith or love for life. She enjoyed nature and gardening and most enjoyed spending time in the mountains.
She was employed by the Blue Ridge Pharmacy and was a member of Bonsack Baptist Church.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 40 years, John A. Purdham; two sons, Todd A. Purdham and his wife, Jordan, David L. Purdham and his fiancEe, Tiffany R. Brown, all of the Roanoke Valley; brother, Steven G. Larson and his wife, Gladys of Topping Va. The apple of her eye was her precious granddaughter, Abigail Anne Purdham, who gave her the strength and inspiration to carry on the past two years; also surviving are her niece, Holley Ott and her husband, Joey; nephews, Erik Larson and his wife, Patty, and Gregory Chase Withers and his wife, Lauren; her beloved pets, Cody, Paco and Niki; numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at Bonsack Baptist Church, Dr. Robert G. Moore III will officiate, a reception at the church will follow, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Susan G. Komen for the cure, www.komenroanoke.org
