Carol Dann Smith
VIRGINIA BEACH - Carol Dann Smith, 88, passed away peacefully in her daughter's arms April 6, 2008, in her residence at The Chesapeake.
Born in Norfolk, Va., to the late Maude and Silas Smith Dann, Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Maury High School and attended the Norfolk division of The College of William & Mary. She retired from C&P Telephone Co. as a Chief Operator after 33 years of service. She was an active parishioner of Old Donation Episcopal Church where she was a member of St. Margarets/First Circle and the Episcopal Churchwomen. She was for many years the Bake Room Lady for the yearly church bazaar and volunteered endlessly.
Mrs. Smith was the loving wife of Albert James Smith for 63 years.
She is survived by her children, Albert Lee Smith, Ellen Smith Aikin and Greg Smith and his wife, Anita. Also grandchildren, Sean and Christopher Smith; Jonathan, Susanna, Andrea, and Trevor Aikin; and Ethan and Caleb Smith; and many loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Old Donation Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Old Donation Church or to the charity of one's choice.

Aunt Carol was the best: she was fun and funny; thoughtful, loving and always made me feel at home when I visited. It was a privilege to be her neice.
