To the Family of Carroll Hardy: Our hearts were saddened when we heard of the passing of Dean Hardy. We met her in 1990 and fell in love with her. She was a "God-Sent" person who touched the lives of all who knew her and shaped the futures of so many W & M students - our daughter was one. Her legacy of greatness will live on because of the great work that she did - it speaks highly of her. Her work is done here on Earth and now great is her reward in Heaven. We join the multitude of other people who were blessed by her existence and share in your loss, but are comforted by her everlasting memories. May each of you find comfort in your own loving memories of her.

Dean Hardy was one of the most beautifully imposing presences, male or female that I'd ever come across in my whole life. The fact that she didn't kill me and my co-horts in the 1990 STEP program is a testament to her love and patience for misguided souls with a little bit of potential. She did yell at us a lot though, but even then you could feel the love.
I hadn't seen her in years but I always remembered her and the inspiration she gave to me that summer. I hope that I can live up to her legacy and maybe somewhere in the bright yonder she'll look down at me and my life and smile
Shaking her head all the while...

To the Stuart Family,
Dr. Carroll Hardy, was a mentor, counselor and friend to me for more than 20 years. I thank you so much for sharing her with me and so many others. I celebrate her life here on earth and her life eternal. Death has no victory and the grave has no sting. Therefore, there are no goodbyes only "see you later."

"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." (Matt 5:4) "Rejoice, and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven...." (Matt 5: 12).
Dr. Hardy, a wonderful spirited warm hearted woman, educator, friend and sister in Christ to all who knew her. She gave hope to the hopeless and knowledge to those who wanted to learn and follow in her footsteps. Dr. Hardy lived life, was full of wisdom and had a smile larger than life itself.
Dr. Hardy was also a woman with patience, understanding and had a willingness to teach our children how to reach the mountain top.
The many great moments we shared will live with me forever and I will miss her. But God had a greater plan and he needed her more and she understood that, took his hand and now sit beside him, telling him about her great accomplishments.
Thank you Dr. Hardy for who you were and you will always remain in my heart.

I am deeply saddened to hear that Dr. Hardy is no longer here with us. Her work has touched so many lives and inspired me on multiple levels. She has planted thousands of seeds for success in the lives of so many college students and college employees. I always enjoyed speaking with her, the wisdom she would share and the way she would make me laugh.
My prayers are with her family and I know she will be GREATLY missed.

I was saddened to hear the news of Dr. Hardy's passing last week. Her vision transformed the College of William and Mary for the better and in my view helped elevate the College's status and appeal among national universities. She was a passionate champion for her students, diversity, and inclusion. I am forever grateful to Dr. Hardy because I (a first generation college applicant from downtown Newport News) would not have even made it through the doors at William and Mary had it not been for her. She leaves behind a powerful legacy that will endure.

It was definitely an honor and privilege to be one of Dean's kids! :) She has left a permanent mark on so many lives. Those who know her well have some pretty good stories when she may have had to get us back in line. I know she will continue to watch over us.

Prayers and thoughts are with Dean Hardy's family, friends, colleagues, and students. I had the pleasure of meeting Dean Hardy as a rising HS Senior in the W&M STEP 1990 program. And our relationship continued through my time as a student at W&M. Thanks to her for all that she did for me.
