Charles BULIFANT Obituary
A native of Surry, he had been a Hampton resident for the last 16 years. He loved working on cars, motorcycles, scooters, and anything with a motor.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Pepsi Bulifant; and his uncle, Buddy Bulifant, who was like a father to him.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Paula Bishop and Bob Frantz; his father and step-mother, Charles W. Bulifant Sr. and Millie; his maternal grandparents, Paul and Sylvia Shattuck; his wife, Ashleigh Bulifant; his children, Jeremy, Harlei, and Marnie; his sisters, Rena Liufau, Cassie Belflower and Hannah Bishop; his special cousin, Robin Stuart; special friends, Sammy and Casey; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, in the funeral home chapel. Everyone is invited back to the family home following the service.
At every funeral Charlie attended, he said that he didn't ever want people to come to his funeral dressed up. Please honor his wish and "come as you are."
Memorials may be made payable to any of his children and sent to SunTrust Bank, 75 Willow Oaks Blvd., Hampton, VA 23669. Please put "donation account" in the memo section of the check. Donations may also be sent to R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA 23669, to help with funeral expenses. A beautiful soul and a father, brother, son, uncle and friend taken too soon. You never passed judgement or turned your back on someone in need, you had an incredible gift of just accepting people as they are and this is a rare gem to find in humanity. If something was broken then you would try to fix it, if someone was sad then you would find a way to make them smile and if the room was still then you would put it back in motion. You are lovable and will always be loved and left a mark on all those who were lucky enough to cross your path. Charlie, losing you made the earth shake today. I had not seen you in years but your were always a huge part of my past and one of the most loyalist friends I ever had. I thank you for all you did and if your family ever needs anything then I will help them any way I can. I know the Angels in Heaven are glad to have you and could not wait any longer to call you Home. Rest in peace and we will one day meet again.

Charlie gave us something very special in our life....and for that he will always hold a special place in our hearts! Our prayers and special thoughts go out to the children and his loved ones. My God bless them all with strength during this difficult time.

My heart bleeds for Charlies family, especially Jeremy, Harlei, and Marnie. He was like a son for so many years, we experienced good times and bad together just like any other families do.
