Dabney Deagle Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Dabney Keith Deagle, 55, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2006. Keith was born in Newport News and was a former resident of Mathews County before moving back to Newport News 29 years ago. He was an Army veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1971-72. He was an employee with Newport News Shipbuilding in Dept. X11 as a shipfitter for 27 years until his retirement in 2004. During that time, he was also employed with Beechmont Garage as a state inspector and mechanic. For the last two years he was employed as a shipfitter with Oceaneering in Chesapeake, Va. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He belonged to the R& D Hunting Club in Mathews County. Keith was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Dabney Deagle and Hadley Lee Deagle; and two brothers, Billy and Eddie Deagle. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Linda Lee Deagle; two sons, Gregory K. Deagle of Newport News and Justin S. Deagle and his wife, Amy, of Burlington, N.C.; a daughter, Tracy J. Andrew and her husband, Jason, of Newport News; a brother, Arnold L. Deagle of Mathews County, Va.; and a sister, Cathy Walker of Gloucester. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Lindzy, Kelcy, Zachary and Ashlee. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters, 601 Children's Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
