Dianne Brooks Obituary
She was preceded in death by her parents Ella M. Hazelwood Brooks and Thomas J. Brooks, Jr., aunt, Betty Schoolar, and brother, Thomas Jefferson Brooks (an infant). Dianne is survived by special friends, Brenda Peterson of Hampton (Ron) and Angie and Gary Downey of Smithfield; her four-legged son, Micky Mantle Charles Brooks; sister, Lynda Lee Rainey of Newport News; and cousins, Kellie Reynolds of Maryland, Daryl Schoolar of Arizona and Belinda Willis of Yorktown.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 10246 Warwick Blvd., Newport News VA, officiated by Reverend Elizabeth Lutz. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandy Hook Promise or First United Methodist Church of Newport News.
Arrangements are under the care of Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA 23601.

My dear cousin Dianne was a significant presence in my childhood. She always encouraged my education and my love of reading. Her dedication to her profession was an inspiration. I still remember attending her graduation from VCU where she earned her MSW. She is truly missed.

My condolences to all who were touched by Dianne, be you family, a friend or someone who needed her help. I worked with Dianne for several years at Western Tidewater CSB in Suffolk. Dianne provided excellent care to our clients, deeply cared for all, had a kind heart, and had a great sense of humor as well. I always enjoyed hearing stories of her kitty at the time, Gilley. She will be missed by many and I'm glad I got to know her along the way. Her gift of peace was truly earned in all that she did.
