Earl W. Christiansen Sr.

HAMPTON - Earl W. Christiansen Sr., 83, died Sunday, May 30, 2004. Born in Beloit, Wis., he had been a Hampton resident since 1958 and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. In 1963, he retired from the U.S. Army after 22 years of military service including USMC service in WWII and as an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Christiansen is a qualified FAA instructor on flight simulators, a qualified pilot since 1945 in fixed wing as well as helicopters and a retired master instructor in helicopters from Ft. Eustis. He is a life member of the American Legion and the Marine Corps League. Mr. Christiansen is survived by his wife, Mildred 'Suzie' Harford Christiansen; one son, Earl W. Christiansen Jr.; sisters, Sylvia 'Tootsie' Baldowski of East Point, Ga., and Esther C. Brasfield of Lexington, Ky.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and Barbara Keefer, dear friend and mother of beloved grandson, Mark Walter Christiansen. He loved his family and lived life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hampton. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Norfolk. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, Hampton. The family wishes in lieu of flowers, memorial donations should be sent to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 512 Buckroe Ave., Hampton, 23664.
