Elizabeth Hartman Obituary

YORKTOWN - Elizabeth Theresa 'Toots' Hartman, 91, entered into the arms of her Lord with her family present on Friday, Nov. 19, 2004. She was born in Newport News to the late Walter Cyril and Elizabeth Mary Robinson on Nov. 13, 1913. She graduated from St. Vincent DePaul High School and DePaul School of Nursing. Elizabeth married Francis Edward Hartman on Aug. 27, 1938. Together they were blessed with seven children. After her children were grown, Elizabeth worked at Mary Immaculate Hospital as a Recovery Room Nurse and later volunteered her time to the Pink Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where she was active in the Womens Guild. Elizabeth enjoyed volunteering at the Holy Family Retreat House and the Sarah Bonwell Hudgins Center. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank, and her son, Bernard 'Bunny' Hartman Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Bill Nettles and their children, Suzette and Tim; her sons, Francis E. Hartman Jr. of Florida and his children, Missy, Stephanie, Tony and Tim; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Hartman of Richmond and her sons, Shannon, Brian and James Hartman of Hampton, and his daughter, Tara and her mother, Debbie, Thomas Hartman and his wife, Colleen, and their children, Ryan, Lauren, Jordan and Kristen of Poquoson, Robert Hartman of Texas and his daughters, Jessica and Melissa, David Hartman of Hampton. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff of Dominion Village of Poquoson for their loving care. Mom, Grandma we thank you for all the years of love and devotion and care you gave all of us. We will hold you in our hearts forever. A Funeral Mass will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where the family will receive friends beginning at 5:30 p.m. Interment will held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arc of the Virginia Peninsula, 11824 Fishing Point Drive, Suite A, Newport News, VA 23606, St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 2114 Bay Ave., Hampton, VA, or St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 9041 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Yorktown, VA 23692. Arrangements are being handled by Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
