Emily Riffe Obituary

YORKTOWN - Emily D. Riffe, 73, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009.
Mrs. Riffe was a native of Dudley, England, and a Peninsula resident since 1977.
Emily was an avid bowler and member of the American Bowling Congress. She was an Avon Salesperson and an active volunteer with national SPCA. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Harold A. Futter and Elsie Willets Futter.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Bobby Riffe; two sons, Wayne Allen Riffe and his wife, Sherry, and Wesley D. Riffe and his wife, Darlene, all of Yorktown, Va. She is also survived by a sister, Marjorie Vargas of Abilene, Texas; and four grandchildren, Wayne Allen Riffe II, Billy and Justin Smith, and Amanda Riffe.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, in the funeral home.

Mr. Riffe, Wayne, Wesley, and family I will always treasure the fond memories that I shared with Mrs. Riffe and she will be sadly missed. She is a treasured friend for always and forever. I will always miss her caring smile and her greeting of love that she had for everyone she knew and loved. Mrs. Riffe is a very special person that I will miss.

Bob, I was so shocked to hear of Emily's passing. I never got a chance to come by to see her like I promised. Our hearts and prayers goes out to you and your family at this time of loss. Emily was a great person and friend and I will miss her dearly. She is at peace now.

Uncle Bobby, Wayne, Wesley & families,

We are so sorry for the loss of our beloved Aunt Emily. She will always be alive in our hearts and our minds. We are so sorry that we can't be there for you during this very sad time but you know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers. I know that she is in Heaven with all of her family that has gone on before her and also with all of our family who has gone on before her. They are all singing & shouting up there!!!!

I am deeply sorry for your loss. I will always remember Aunt Emily as the loving person that she was. Please know in your hearts that I am with you, through my prayers, and our memories, even though I am not going to be able to attend the services. Aunt Emily is now in Heaven with our loved ones that were there to greet her with open arms and smiles because they are together again......
