Eva Shipley Obituary

MIDLOTHIAN - Eva Reid Verelle Shipley, 81, formerly of Cobbs Creek, died Wednesday. She was a native of Prince Edward County and graduated from Farmville High School, Longwood College and Virginia Commonwealth University. She taught school in the Richmond area, retiring in 1982. She was a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, and delivered "Meals on Wheels" in Mathews County for five years. She is survived by one sister, Molly R. Leas of Midlothian; two brothers, James L. Reid Sr. of Midlothian and Willie C. Reid of Lawrenceville; two stepsons, James V. Shipley of Cobbs Creek and Robert Earl Shipley of Gloucester; two stepdaughters, Shirley Anne Shipley Richardson of Mathews and Susan Shipley Lawson of Gloucester; five stepgrandchildren; and six step-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at the Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home Chapel, Mathews. Burial will follow in the Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, VA 23226 and/or to Locust Grove U.M.C., c/o Michael Libassi, Box 278, Cobbs Creek, VA 23035. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, is in charge of the arrangements.
