Geraldine SEVERS Obituary
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert L. Severs; and her daughter, Cynthia A. Swain.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Jennie A. Swain; Jennie's father, David G. Swain and his wife, Shelah; stepgrandchildren, Tyler and Mallory McKee; a brother, Donald Hellmann Sr.; sister-in-law, Grace R. Hellmann; nephews, Kenneth Van Aken and wife, Sue, Kevin Van Aken and wife, Lori, and Kris Van Aken and wife, Cheryll, Donald Hellmann Jr. and wife, Bonnie, Ronald Hellmann and wife, Arlene, William Hellmann, and their families; and a niece, Tina Telerica and family.
For more than 50 years, she was a member of The Trenton Church of the Nazarene, seventeen of which she was church treasurer. Presently she attended First Baptist Church of Newport News.
The family will receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home by the Rev. Dale Seley with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.

David and Jenny -
Jim and I are so sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. She was such a wonderful woman of God in all that she did during her life. I will never forget the many things she taught me about hospitality, just from observing her day to day life. She always made sure that Cindy had a buddy to ride with her on those long trips from NJ to VA, to see this nice young man whom she liked a lot. I enjoyed those rides and getting to know the Severs family more. While away from my home in CT, she was like another mom to me.
Mrs. Severs holds a special place in our hearts, always. You are in our prayers.

Iam so sorry to hear of Gerrys passing. She was certainly a child of God. I enjoyed talking to her on the phone. She had such wisdom. The last time I talked to her, I asked how she was and she said, "Well, Im unable to get out of the bed now, but I have a wonderful view from my bed." She also said that the Bible says we should be content in every situation and she said that she was. I will surely miss our phone calls. My prayers are with you all. May God comfort each of you as only He can.
