Gilbert Jones Obituary

PLAINVIEW - Homegoing services for Gilbert E. Jones Sr., who departed this life Jan. 18, 2003, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, from the First Baptist Church, Hockley, with the Rev. Keith L. Parham officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Viewing will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The family and friends will assemble at the church by 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday. He is survived by two daughters, Sesly M. and Whitley U. Jones; one son, Gilbert E. Jones Jr., all of Plainview, Va.; his mother, Mrs. Marie Jones of Plainview, Va.; two brothers, Aaron B. Jones Jr. of Plainview, Va., and Marvin J. Jones (Mona) of Charlotte, N.C. Professional services entrusted to White-Tidewater Funeral Home, Jamaica, Va.

I am writing to the family of Gilbert Jones, a wonderful teacher . My son Mitchell, was lucky enough to have Mr. Jones as a 6th grade science teacher at King & Queen Elementary School. He was a patient and kind man to all who knew him. This is a great loss to all, and an unfortunate loss to those who were not blessed with knowing him. I express my condolences to his family and friends. Mr. Gilbert Jones will be missed.
