Gladys Knight Obituary
She was a native of Halifax, N.C., and retired from the Newport News Public Schools System after 30 years of service. Mrs. Knight was a member of First Baptist Church Jefferson Park.
She is survived by her son, Aldeen Knight Jr., Ronald, and Bernard Knight; her daughter, Brenda Knight Hunter; four sisters, one brother, 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Homegoing celebration will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 25, at First Baptist Church Jefferson Park, with Pastor Reginald Woodhouse, officiating. Burial will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Brenda, much peace and grace be unto you during these days of adjusting to the fact that your mom has finished her course and has fought a good fight, and is now where we are striving to go, heaven.
I know what you may be feeling, as my mother passed on October 29, 2008. I am resting in the fact that my mother is not suffering any longer and is in heaven waiting to see her family again.
Be encouraged and cherish the good memories you have of her.

My condolences to your family during this time of loss. Gladys was such a special woman who cared for me as a young girl. In fact, she taught me how to make spaghetti at 10 years old.
