NEWPORT NEWS - Gladys Fleming Robinson, 91, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.
She was a native of Mathews County, Va., and was a resident of the Peninsula most of her life.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of Parkview Baptist Church, where she served as librarian for more than 46 years. She was also a graduate of Newport News High School.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Billy M. Robinson; and two sisters, Mildred Fleming and Dorothy Sutton.
Survivors include a daughter, Nan Dunaway and husband, James of Seaford; son, Albert McCaskill and wife, Janet of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special thank you to her caregivers, Jeanette Ewers and Paulette Batten.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Park, officiated by the Rev. Stan Putney.
Memorial donations may be made to Riverside Hospice, 12420 Warwick Blvd., Ste 6E, Newport News, VA 23606 or a Christian charity of your choice.

It was pleasure to meet you and your mother. I grew to love and admire Mrs. Robinson so much for her patience and self determination. I will always remember her.
I extend my sincere condolences to you in hopes that,in some small way,it will be of some comfort to you to know how much your mother impressed others and was loved.
It was so evident of how you loved and respected mother.

Dear Nan and family,
Hope you remember me I am Marion Miles grandaughter, Lynne. so sorry to read of the loss of Gladys. I remember when I was young visiting with Grandmother Marion and ya'll coming over. I know you will miss her and you and your family will be in my prayers.
