H.Jennings Bryan, what a name I thought when I first met him.I met Mr.Bryan while visiting one of his properties on Old Oyster Point Rd.,I was looking to rent,we talked at least an hour the first meeting,I lived across the street in a townhouse,I explained to him I was injured in my job in the shipyard & that my credit check might not be as good as I would want it to be because I went almost two years without a work check,he told me he was considering another person who applied first, later the next day we met & he said Mr.Wells you can have the place no credit check needed,he said he likes my character & asked to shake my hand,I rented from him for over 9 years in that time we shared many conversations,he was an eloquent gentleman, kind patient & understanding & quick with a smile. My Sincere Heartfelt Condolences to his entire family & I know from the Promise of My Heavenly Father we'll meet again, until then sleep well H.Jennings Bryan (Love that name) See You In The Morning...Frederick(Freddy)Wells

JENNINGS AND MARY JANE WERE GREAT FRIENDS, NEIGHBORS AND SUPPORTERS OF MYSELF AND DOCKSIDE CONDOMINIUM IN ITS INITIAL YEARS. WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE, HUMOR, REAL ESTATE KNOWLEDGE I COULD NOT HAVE CARRIED ON. FALLING THRU YOUR ROOF WAS A HIGHLIGHT OF HAPPY DAYS. MEMORIES OF BOTH OF YOU FLOOD MY MIND, FROM TRIPS UP THE BAY TOGETHER ON OUR BOATS AND LEARNING TO EAT DESERT FIRST FROM JENNINGS EXAMPLE. OUR LOVE AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL. WILL

Jenning once said to me: The legacy I will leave one day will be my family and friends. I remember that very clearly because he spoke so highly of his love for his wife, children and friends. I admired how he shared his kindness and positive outlook to everyone he met.

The humor side was when I had a opportunity to visit with him, he would ask " Would you like to have Mary Jane bring us some She crab soup?"

My thoughts and prayer will be with you all thought this transitional time of life.

Mary Jane, Tom, Bucky and family members,

It is with such a heavy heart that I write this. The "Brooks kids" always thought of Jennings and Mary Jane as our other parents! My dad and Jennings had always been so close, really more like brothers than cousins. I remember fondly Jennings' playful grin when he and dad played "pranks" on one another. I have such fond memories too of fun times together with Jennings and Mary Jane at the Tappahannock house along the river - such joy! Jennings was one of the most generous people I've ever known, and his sense of humor was second to none! I will most certainly miss his creative, determined and jovial spirit. To know Jennings was to love him. God has received his faithful and obedient servant. (Give both our dad and our mom a big hug from the Brooks kids until we are united again.) May God grant His blessings and His peace as Jennings' family mourns the loss of husband, father and grandfather. Our hearts go out to all of you as we think of you and pray for you during this time and in the days ahead.

I'm so blessed to have been one of the Hidenwood Presbyterian Church kids when Mr. Bryan taught our Sunday School class for high schoolers . He was always able to draw us into his lesson (which for teens is very difficult!) Through the years when I'd visit the church, he'd always take time to ask what I was up to. Such a caring person! Thanks for sharing him with us.
