Hazel WILLIAMS Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Hazel Conner Williams, 71, died March 12, 2010, at her home in Williamsburg, Va., with her family by her side, following a short but brave battle with cancer.
She was born Nov. 10, 1938, in a farming community in Lunenburg County, Va., to William and Ola Conner. She became a resident of Williamsburg in 1962, where she and her husband, of nearly 55 years, raised their four children, opening their home and family to any and all in need.
Mrs. Williams was not only a homemaker; she was a loving mother, dedicated friend, caregiver and babysitter for 75 children over the years. As the matriarch of a large extended family, she provided a wealth of knowledge, love and support to all. She devoted much of her
time and energy as a caregiver to family members, and her elderly neighbors. She had a love for cooking, flowers, birds, and a great passion for baseball. She will be missed greatly by her family and everyone who knew her. She was a member of Olive Branch Christian Church.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her husband, Lewis E. Williams; two daughters and two sons and their spouses, Brenda and Chris Jones, Nancy Cludinski, Jimmy and Christy Williams, Kenneth and Michelle Williams; 10 grandchildren, Ryan and Amanda Jones, Sara Jones, Emily Jones; Catherine Cludinski, Samuel Cludinski, Taylor Williams, Justin Williams, Alexa Williams, Jared Williams; and one great-grandchild, Stella Jones; her brother, Early Conner; her sisters, Mattie Byrd, Christine Hardaway and Ann Reese.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ervin Conner and Howard Conner; and her sister, Alyene Neal.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at the Bucktrout Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Olive Branch Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall. All our thoughts and prayers go out to Lewis, Jimmy and the Williams family. We are saddened by your loss, and moreso because as we know, when you have such a tight-knit family as yours and ours, it seems to be rougher. In this time, you, as we have, draw strength and support from each other, as well as your large extended family of friends. We are all praying for you--
