Jerry REED Obituary
Born in Algona, Iowa, he had been a Peninsula resident since 1977. Jerry retired from the U.S. Army as a SFC in 1983 with 23 years of service. After retiring, he went to work in security with Wachenhut Corp., until his illness. He was a member of DAV and also a member of Olivet Christian Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Herta E. Reed; his son, Jerry L. Reed Jr., and his wife, Michelle; his daughter, Margit R. Price and her fiancE, John J. Butch, all of Newport News; three grandchildren, Erika Chenault and her husband, Brian, of Newport News, Jeanette Reed and her boyfriend, Nick Breiten Bucher, of Virginia Beach, and Brandon S. Price, and his fiancEe, Sarah Jackson, of Newport News; and his little angel, Jaiden Hamilton, and soon-to-be great-grandson, Jackson Reed Chenault; brother-in-law, Herbert Lappel and his wife, Margarete, of Germany; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family in Germany.
A memorial service with full military honors will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Olivet Christian Church by the Rev. David Willis. Visitation and a Reception will follow at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet Christian Church, 14425 Old Courthouse Way, Newport News, VA 23608.

I Never had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Reed, but if his children Margit and Jerry are anyhthing like him I kwow he had to have a large heart. We all have one thing in common "OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST". My family will continue to pray for your family. God Bless you all.
