Joe was my Grandad. I am the son of Charles, who passed away in his sleep in December of 2021. I randomly Googled Grandad's name as part of a family history project I'm working on and came across this page. Thank you to everyone who wrote a tribute here. If any of you have any memories of him, I'd love it if you'd email me at [email protected]. Thanks again for the kind words on here.

I am so sorry to hear that my beloved Uncle Joe died. I wish I had known he was so sick. I would have tried to make an effort to see him, I was actually not too far a way, just in Tennessee. Uncle Joe you will be terribly missed. But I can imagine Aunt Billie and Becky and Patty were smiling and waiting with open arms when they saw you.May God Bless you and please pray for me from where you're at. I love you Uncle Joe.

I knew Joe for the 25 years I lived in Mt. Ivy and was very fond of him. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My friends kept me informed of his illness and surely he is better off now and reunited with Billie.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Joe's family. Joe was the first person to greet us when we moved next door 11 years ago. I am grateful that I got to know how good a person he was and I feel horned that he felt close enough to share so many personal things with me and my family. We will miss him terribly.

Gene & Brenda - Though I did not know your father I have heard many wonderful things about him, and from what I have been told he was truly a wonderful man. I know words won't do much to heal your heart at this time, but I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Marie

So saddened to hear of Joe's passing. We have lived in Mt. Ivy, going on 15 years and had never gotten to know him, only waved as we met on the road! To the family (a very large one that we didn't know Joe had) we see, after we read Joe's obituary, that we missed an opportunity to have known a very fine man. God bless you all!

I was sadden to hear of Mr. Sapien's passing. I became acquainted with him a few years ago when I worked at First Virginia Bank, (now EVB). He was always kind and always had his dogs waiting for their treats. My prayers are extended to the family. God Bless you all.

Pam, Susan, and family, we are deeply sadden by Joe's passing. He was a wonderful man who always welcomed us into his home and treated us as family. No words can express the sadness you are going through. Your father lives on in all of you. May God bless you all. Love, Greg and Sherron Hager
