John S. Tripp

John S. Tripp, 84, passed away peacefully in his sleep April 14, 2023. John was born in Salina, Kansas, in 1938, the only child of Orval and Ruth Tripp. He earned Electrical Engineering degrees at Kansas State University and a PhD at the University of Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army (1st Lt.). The Army sent him to NASA, in Hampton, Virginia, where he worked the rest of his career as an Aeronautical Engineer.

John had a massive stroke in February 2020, which left him almost totally paralyzed, but didn't dampen his sense of humor.

John was a faithful member of his church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and serving as church treasurer for nearly 30 years. John was always so kind and thoughtful, constantly looking for ways to help others.

John was predeceased by his parents. Left to treasure his memory are his cousins in Kansas and Colorado, his friends in Virginia, and his faithful dog Biscuit.

A celebration of John's life will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday, April 30, at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1509 Todd's Lane, Hampton, VA 23666. Burial will be in Kansas.
