Linda BOOTH Obituary

YORKTOWN - Linda Sue Bilbrey Booth, 70, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, after an unexpected cancer diagnosis. Linda was born on Aug. 3, 1942, in Livingston, Tenn., to the late Albert Fred Bilbrey and Georgia Mae Bilbrey Frigge.
Linda attended Tennessee Polytechnic Institute in Cookeville, Tenn., graduating in three years in 1963 with a degree in mathematics. She moved to Hampton, Va., where she worked for NASA and met her husband of 45 years, Donald Franklin Booth Sr. She became a resident of Yorktown, Va., and proudly left the workforce to become a stay-at-home mother to three children. She later returned to work on the NASA campus as a systems analyst for Lockheed-Martin, and retired on the same day as her husband, an electrical engineer at NASA. Linda loved gardening, playing her piano, reading, and spending time with her family.
Her memory will be cherished by her devoted husband, Donald Franklin Booth Sr., of Yorktown; three children, Suzanne Booth Jamison (Neal), of Roanoke, Va., Donald Franklin Booth Jr. (Sheena), of Poquoson, and Melissa Booth, of Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Ann Bilbrey Glenn (Steve), of The Woodlands, Texas; two grandchildren, Evan Jamison, of Roanoke and Reed Booth, of Poquoson; along with nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Linda's church, Gloucester Church of Christ (2432 Hayes Rd, Hayes VA 23072) or Riverside Hospice (12420 Warwick Blvd, Newport News, VA 23606). The family wishes to express their gratitude to Riverside Hospice and to their friends for their assistance during Linda's final weeks.

I'm so sorry for the loss of this sweet lady. We so appreciate the time we had to spend with Linda and all the family last summer at the reunion. Even though we're far away in Florida, you all are very close in our hearts. I hope that God will reach down and give you some comfort in knowing that Linda is there with him. We love you all very much.

I am so sad to hear of Linda's passing. Linda and I worked together for years, during the time she was sewing the wedding dress for her daughter. She sewed my garter belt for my wedding. I will always cherish my memories of Linda. Deepest heartfelt sympathy for her family. She was so proud of her children!

George and I were so sorry to learn of Linda's death. We had not had contact with the family for a long time but have some special memories of Linda when she and Don were dating way-back-yonder and her creativity was so impressive with her sewing skills, etc. She had such a sweet, sweet spirit. . . Our love to the family.

I was very sorry to read about Linda's illness and death in the newspaper yesterday. I remember Linda and all three of her children from the Yorktown Elementary School days. Linda helped me in the library so many times! She was thoughtful and kind and I felt lucky to have her support. She was a sweetheart. She was SO PROUD of her children and rightfully so. I am sorry that she became ill and lost her battle with that horrible disease, cancer. My sympathy goes out to the entire Booth family.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Dear Booths, You were like a second family of sorts when we were growing up together in Yorktown, Donald was the cool brother I had always wanted, your parents offering unconditional love and support to all your zillions of friends. When speaking about his mom through the years, Donald didn't say "my mom", he'd just say "mom" like she was everyone's mom, and in a way yes she was. Losing her is a tragedy, and it reminds us just how short and precious life is. Know that we love you and are with you in spirit...
