Linda Highlander Obituary
Born in Newport News, she was a lifelong Peninsula resident, where she enjoyed bowling and basketball competition in the Special Olympics. She taught all her family and friends how to love unconditionally.
Survivors include her father, Joe T. Highlander of Hampton; a sister, Nancy Jo and her husband, Terry Crockett, of Hampton; her brother, Pastor David and his wife, Sheri Highlander, of Hampton; and a special cousin, Becky Sheets.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Assembly of God, Hampton, with her brother, Pastor David Highlander, and Pastor Ernest Trueblood officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home of her father, 325 Nancy Drive, Hampton.
R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, downtown Hampton, in charge of arrangements.
Linda is now together with her mother, who can resume her special care.

Nancy, Mr. Highlander and David, This loss marks another beautiful person in your family who blessed and loved everyone she met. I have so many great memories of us playing and enjoying life with Linda. She had a way of taking us out of our normal routines and finding lots of laughter. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.
