I was the guy in Linda's life--before bill--during her Freshman year at William & Mary. We met at a pre-school mixer in August 1956. I was a 19 YO Sr at UVA and she was a 17 YO freshman and it was the first serious (though "celibate" in keeping with the custom of the times) relationship for each of us, and we alternated weekends in Williamsburg and Charlottesville throughout that year. We even talked of marriage but acknowledged that we were much too young for such a step. In Sep 1957 I went off to Ft Benning fully intending to resume our relationship at some point, but then Linda met her destiny--Bill--and I was soon history. Still, I kept her memory tucked away in a remote corner of my heart. Looking back, she graced and enriched my life and to this day, I cherish the memory of her brief presence in my life. I was saddened to learn of her death, followed so closely by that of Bill. I offer this brief loving memory of young Linda as a glimpse of her youth probably unknown to her children.
