Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Black Creek Baptist Church located at 6289 McClellan Road, Mechanicsville, VA 23111. Interment will be Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Tucker Family Cemetery at 1231 Logan Road, Java, VA. Funeral arrangements by Jeffress Funeral Home, 2000 N. Main Street, South Boston, Virginia 24592.

So sorry to hear of Mr.Hamlin's passing. I have known him most of my life. He graduated from LP Jackson with my sister Helen, and then became my teacher.

We are so sad to learn of Lloyd's passing. We worked together in the Surry County school system for many years and always admired his rapport with teachers and students. He was a good friend to us during this time and beyond. His dedication to education was evidenced through his commitment and service to Surry County and King and Queen County schools and the Governor's School in Petersburg. He will be fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched. Ronnie, you and Michael, Sharnise, Jan and Patrell have our sympathy.

Dear Hamlin Family,
The news of Mr. Hamlin's death came as a shock. His departure was unexpected and distressing.
His name became a household word because of my parents, Newton and Mozelle Taliaferro, and their friendship with his mother, Grace Hamlin. My Dad often spoke of Lloyd with pride. His Mom and I shared may joyful conversations. Who would have thought that this this young man would become my boss? What a blessing to all of us!

I extend my sincere condolences to the Hamlin family reference the loss of Mr. Lloyd Hamlin. I consider it a very fortunate occasion for me when I met Mr. Hamlin as he interviewed me for a position at Surry County High School. I immediately found him to be a very kind, compassionate, and sincere person who cared deeply for people. Mr. Hamlin and I bonded quickly and our families became very good friends. I will always remember the wonderful times we shared together on many occasions. Even though he is no longer with us physically, I will always remember him as a wonderful Supervisor, mentor and friend and I will never forget the wonderful relationship we shared. I sincerely believe that he is in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and I will see him again.

My deepest sympathy to the Hamlin family. Mr. Hamlin was my first and favorite principal. He hired a skinny little girl and taught her to be strong but be loving to students. I will always remember him with a smile. I would not be the teacher I am today ( even though I'm retired) without his guidance.

I vividly remember when Mr. Hamlin came to work for King & Queen County. He journeyed through this life leaving footprints of kindness, compassion, courage, humor and inspiration in the lives of many, including mine. I am grateful to have known and worked with him for a total of over 15 years. I will forever remember him as the mentor he was, always giving others the opportunity to grow in their lives/careers. He will truly be missed. RIEP my friend.

I was a young Man growing up in Surry County, the year was 1983 I I was a Senior at Surry County High School the Class of 1983 would soon be graduating and moving on. But i would not walk with my class because i needed 1 Point!. Thank God for Mr. Hamlin who saw something in me that I did not see in myself at the time. It's funny How God sends Angels to move you through this life! Mr. Hamlin had a talk to me that would change my life that day He made sure that I got the 1 Point that I needed to move on in Life! 36 years later, As I look Back I've been Retired From the United Stated Marine Corps 15 years now, I have a Wonderful Family, A roof over my head and a good bill of Health. Currently I'm a Preacher of the Word of God preaching Sound Doctrine! the Gospel of Jesus Christ and yes I walked across the Stage as the Student of the Year from Seminary School.. I give God all the Glory for sending this Angel my way!.. Mr. Hamlin I thank you!, and I hope that you are proud of this little boy from a small town that needed 1 Point! and I got it! Amen!.
