NEWPORT NEWS - Lois R. Owens Histand, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011.
She was a native of Elyria, Ohio and resident of the Peninsula most of her life. Lois retired from J.C. Penny, as a sales associate, after 30 years of service. She was a member at the Hilton Baptist Church, and a member of the Warwick Chapter #43 order of the eastern star.
Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Percy L. Owens Jr., second husband, James L. Histand Sr.; and her sister, Helen R. Miller.
Survivors include two sons, Valley L. Owens and his wife, Ann of Newport News, R. Wayne Owens and his wife, Judy of Newport News; one sister, Jean Lanier of Statesboro, Ga.; one brother, Valley K. Roy Jr. of Newport News; one grandson, Brandt L. Owens of Newport News; many loving nieces and nephews, as well as friends.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Lynwood Wells. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to Hilton Baptist Church, 101 Main Street, Newport News, VA 23606.

Sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I use to visit with her on a regular basis when she worked at J.C. Penney's in the New Market Shopping Center. God Bless you and yours.
