Lucy Lee was always fun to be around and always was smiling and laughing and her curls use to bounce around as she did so. She will be greatly missed I'm sure but Heaven will be laughing when she arrives.

Lucy was a delightful person who lit up the room wherever she was.
Her love for her work and her colleagues at CNU
was immeasurable.
May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a loving life.

Lucy was the nicest person and always helpful to me. You never saw her without a smile and those pretty fluffy curls dangling in her eyes! A sad loss for her family and friends on Earth but surely a blessing for her new family in Heaven. I extend my heartfelt condolences to her family. May you find comfort and peace in prayer. Peace.

We were so sorry to learn about Lucy's passing. Lucy and I worked together many years ago. She was always so upbeat, cheerful and positive. Lucy often times shared what was going on in her sons lives and was always so proud of them. Cherish your many happy memories. All of you will remain in our thoughts and prayers during this time.

Lucy was a truly wonderful person. I worked with her since 2007 on matters related to the Peninsula Rotary Endowed Scholarship fund and was always grateful for her help. She had a unique ability to find solutions to any problem that would leave all parties happy with the result. Lucy was very dedicated to CNU and the students whom she served. To quote other others who have written before me, she was one of the kindest people I have ever met. I shall truly miss her.

Over several decades, as my student, my colleague, my friend, whenever I saw and talked to Lucy, I felt bathed in her kindness and generosity, her apparently limitless energy for goodness to others.
Here are few lines of poetry for you Lucy, from May Oliver's "When Death Comes." Oh, how much light you brought to so many who shall dearly miss you and cherish your memory.
"When it's over, I want to say all my life
I was a bride married to amazement
I was the bridegroom, taking the world in my arms."
Thanks for taking so many of us in your arms, dear Lucy.

Lucy Lee and I were inseparable through Junior and Senior high school - then, we were off to University of South Carolina...I remember our fathers died one year apart, very young, so strange the way our lives unfolded in parallel. We had moved to NJ, where my Mother's family lived and another coincident, her Mom got married to Ted Woodward and they moved to NJ very nearby. I remember the loss of her first serious boyfriend in Vietnam and when the Dean of USC came to class to get both of us to let us know... and then how beautiful Lucy was on her wedding day to Joe - dressed in white dotted Swiss with that engaging smile as she came down the stairs of the Woodward home in NJ!
Lucy was a treasure - if you spent time with her, then you know that...I am sure she was welcomed into heaven by so many who have loved her. Rest In Peace, dear friend, and May your light continue to shine within your sons.

Whenever I had the pleasure to work with Lucy on graduation or any other event on campus she exuded a pure and honest attitude of happiness that was contagious to everyone involved. She always had a smile and a kind word when we passed each other on campus. She was the kindest person I have ever met. She will be sorely missed. My condolences and prayers go out to her family and friends.

What a nice lady and kind soul. I had the pleasure of working with Lucy for many years at CNU; she was always happy and upbeat. Sending caring thoughts and prayers to the family. May memories of happier times and the love and support of family and friends bring you comfort. Love lives forever.

She was a joy to work with her for 14 years. A true "southern gentlewoman" as I respectfully reminded her throughout the years. A beautiful soul and her presence will be missed.

It is with a sad heart that I hear of the passing of Lucy Lathchum. When I was a student worker at Christopher Newport University in 1998 as a phonathon ambassador, Mrs. Latchum was my supervisor. Even when I graduated and became an employee at CNU, Lucy and I would cross paths and talk about the good ole days and how CNU has grown. I am sad to hear of her passing as I know she just recently retired. My condolences and prayers go out to the family of Lucy.
