WILLIAMSBURG - Lynette T. Schappell, 58, of Williamsburg, passed away on Jan. 15, 2010. She is free of pain and resting safely. Lynette formerly resided in Richmond. She was born on Aug. 29, 1951, in Pitt County, N.C., to Earline and Charlie Taylor. She was a graduate from the class of 1969, of Newport News High School.
Lynn was an incredibly caring woman, who always put her friends and family above all else. She was an excellent homemaker and mother of her two sons. She was also very talented in many areas of interest, sharing a passion for cooking, sewing, and computers. She was self taught and excelled greatly at anything she became involved with. She was also an avid reader and was known to finish a book in one day.
The Schappell Family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and concern of the staff at MCV, specifically the Thomas Palliative Care Unit. A special thanks goes to nurses, Bonnie, Carrie, Dawn, and Lisa, as well as clinical nurse Margie.
Lynette was preceded in death by her father, Charlie C. Taylor.
Lynette leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 36 years, Donald Schappell of Williamsburg; two sons, Christopher Schappell of Newport News, and Andrew Schappell and fiancEe, Kimberly Brown of Williamsburg; her mother, Earline W. Autry and her husband, Jim Autry of Newport News; and her brother, Ronald Taylor of Raleigh, N.C.
Services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Nelsen Funeral Home.
