Mabel Wallace Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Mrs. Mabel Estelle Cooke Wallace, 89, was called by God to come home for eternal rest on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at Williamsburg Community Hospital. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a member of Union Baptist Church in Highland Park. She was loving and kind and will be greatly missed by everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. Wallace Sr., and two of her sons, Harold E. Wallace Jr. and Charles B. Wallace. She leaves to cherish her blessed memories her sons, John Wallace and William "Buddy" Wallace, both of Williamsburg, and Vasco Wallace of Newport News; her sisters, Helen B. Diggs of Virginia Beach, Kathleen Crump of Winston Salem, N.C., and Bernice Puryear of San Diego, Calif.; her brother, Herbert Cooke of Williamsburg; her nine grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving relatives and many caring friends. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Benjamin Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble by 12:15 p.m. Tuesday at 507 Roycroft Street. Mrs. Wallace may be viewed in the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Professional service entrusted to the staff of Whiting's Funeral Home, Williamsburg.
