Martin Cohen Obituary

YORKTOWN - Martin F. Cohen, 73, died at home on March 10, 2006. Formerly of Baltimore, Md., Martin moved to the Peninsula in 1982. A graduate of the University of Baltimore, he spent his working years in retail management. In retirement, he was an active and enthusiastic member of the Lifelong Learning Society of Christopher Newport University and the Exchange Club of York County. Martin is survived by his wife, Irene; his son, Daniel Cohen; his daughter, Betsy Cohen and her partner, Michelle Short; his daughter-in-law, Kendal Cohen; and his three grandchildren, Matthew, Jonathan and Andrea. The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 12, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, in Oheb Shalom Memorial Park, Baltimore, Md.

Irene, sorry to hear of Martin,s death. My husband, Harold, who died in December, enjoyed working with him at Rice's Nachmans. I remember sharing a pleasant evening with you both once at the theater in Norfolk. Was it really to see Mitz Gaynor? How many years ago? Take comfort in your family and friends . . .that is your best healing.

I am so sorry to read of Marty's death. I will never forget the Seder's and his enjoyment of my father's Deyainu. I still think about those Seders every year. I will miss him.
