Myrna H. Swackhammer

YORKTOWN - Myrna H. Swackhammer, 64, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2007. Myrna was a lifelong resident of the Peninsula. She graduated from York High School in 1961, and from ODU and Riverside School of Nursing. She was employed with the Yorktown Refinery for over 35 years as an Occupational Health Nurse. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church and the Friendship Class. She was also a member of the Riverview Woman's Club, the Red Hat Society and was a volunteer with the American Heart Association, teaching CPR. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and chocolate. Myrna was preceded in death by her father, Joseph L. Holloway. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Curtis Swackhammer; a son, J. Troy Swackhammer and his wife, Rowshank Heydarian, of Vienna, Va.; and a daughter, Rene Swackhammer Wakefield and her husband, William, of Bethesda, Md.; and her mother, Ida Margaret Holloway of Seaford. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 15, at Zion United Methodist Church, Seaford, with the Rev. Joseph Carson officiating. A reception will follow in the church social hall. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 14, in Amory Funeral Home, Grafton.
