Phil touched my life in many ways. He was good to Debbie (my best friend), a wonderful step father, a friend to me. When I had difficult times I knew I could ask him for help and he would be there. I have wonderful memories with him, Debbie and Lessa. Words are not enough to explain how much he will be missed and how much he was loved.

Phil was a dear neighbor, friend and a brother to my husband Mickey as well as my entire family~as a neighbor he would lend a helping hand, whether it was his knowledge, his advice or a needed tool - whatever he had, was ours for the use if we needed it~Mickey considered him a brother~he was a great listener, waiting to speak and when he did it was always a kind word, yet he always managed to speak the truth, in love, not judging, always giving experienced wisdom of his own life~as a friend to our family he was kind to all of our childen, to Matthew he would talk to and listen to his dreams, recommend him to neighbors to cut lawns and respected him as a young teenager. He was there for our daughter and son-in-law in support of their young marriage and generous gift giving to them~I was blessed on one occasion when he came over to talk to my husband which was hard for Phil to get around, but he managed that day a little unsteady, my husband was busy, yet he talked to me a good hour and shared his life and heart and I realized that day he was special~ you knew you were touched by an angel~
Phil you will be missed dearly:)
with much love,

Phil and I were close friends meeting each other around the age of 14 at the Boys Club. We did everything together for lots of years even though I went to Hampton High and he to Newport News High. We spent most weekends together, school functions, double dating and partying. We were even in the Army together up until he had that terrible car accident, causing his diabetes, and he was medically discharged. After we both had married we vacationed together in Hawaii. When he owned the MadHatter Night club, I was his manager in charge. After divorces and life we kinda lost track of each other. I have not heard from him in the last 25 + years, I didn’t know how to get in touch with him. Reading of his passing was sad, but I have great memories. I would have liked to met you and shared part of his new life. Prayers to you and your family,,, carl

Debbie, thanks for your call, it meant alot to me. I will never forget Phil or all of the things we did together. All of the late nights in my race shop and all the Saturday nights at Langley Speedway. Truth be known it was Phil and his motavation that carried us to the championship back in 1981. I could go on and on about the good times, but I'll stop there. Debbie I'm deeply sorry for your loss and the loss of one of the best friend I'll ever have. God speed Phil.
Thanks again Debbie and stay in touch.

I had the privilege of being Phil's friend and I can tell you that he never met a stranger. Phil was a giving man always helping anyone that needed him. He had the loves of his life with his wife Debbie & daughter Lessa and friends far and wide. I have never met anyone with the love for life that he had and he shared that love with all that knew him. I will miss him but know he will continue to smile on all his loved ones. If there are Harley rides in heaven I know he is at the front of the pack.
