Rita McDonald Obituary

81 of Worcester, formerly of Medford, died in her home April 26, 2007, surrounded by her loving family. Her husband of 32 years, James P. McDonald predeceased her. She is survived by her devoted children, Fulton Rudolph and his wife Marge of New Hampshire, James McDonald of Washington, DC, Linda Gregory of Sacramento, CA and Kathleen Aliberti and her husband Steven Osborn of Worcester with whom Rita lived; a brother Larry Carney of Melrose; two sisters Patricia Tricomi and Margaret Rogers both of Peabody; 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and more than 70 nieces and nephews. A son, Richard McDonald, a brother Thomas Carney and two sisters, Ann Carroll and Alice Rudolph, predecease her. Rita was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Margaret (Smith) Carney. She was a 1943 graduate of Medford High School, and a 1947 graduate of the US Army Nurse Cadet Corps. Mrs. McDonald was a nurse for over 40 years. Rita was a proud supporter of Boston sports, an avid bingo player and a great fan of country music. She cherished her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the beloved core of her family. Her loss will be deeply felt by them and her many friends. She will be truly missed. Funeral services will be, April 30th from Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation St. WORCESTER with a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston, Worcester. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, 230 Playstead Rd., Medford. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 29th from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th floor, Brookline, MA 02445 or to UMASS Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605

We hpe you know that you are in our thoughts and prayers at this sad time. We enjoyed hearing Erin's "Grammy" stories and realize how much she was treasured. She was a blessed lady to have had such a loving family.
