Robert ANZIO Obituary
Michael retired as a machinist at the Newport News Ship Yard in 2005 with 34 years of service and was a member of the Warwick Moose Lodge #1711.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Anzio of Newport News; his son, Eddie Anzio of Newport News; his brother, Bobby Anzio of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Marie Vranas of Hampton, Peggy Springfield of California, Glenda Griffith of Hampton, and Anita White of Norfolk; his grandson, Joshua Anzio of Newport News; special sister-in-law, Lisa Gail Jones of Newport News; and many other loved ones.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Wes Taylor at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel. A reception will follow at the Warwick Moose Lodge #1711 where the family will receive friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Animal Aide Society, 8 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA 23666.

Barb, We are so sorry about Mike. Our church has prayer shawls and we got you one for anytime you want to just wrap it around you and think or pray you can. I will be bringing it to you soon. I'm home from the service for Michael. He had a a lot of friends there who cared so much for him. He touched a lot hearts in his unassuming way. He always loved my two girls and I wish he had more time here to know my grand daughter. I will miss you Michael and I wish I would have told you more often how much I loved you.

Aunt Barb,
My earliest memories of a true father figure was Uncle Mike. I used to look forward to the days we got to go over to your house...not because Eddie had all the cool toys...but I got to see Uncle Mike. He was such an BIG and intimidating figure...but once you heard his voice or looked into his eyes you knew he was a great man. I'll never forget him or the time he scared me to death on the motorcycle!! I have never wanted one thanks to that ride he gave me.
Uncle Mike...Thank you for not only being an Uncle...but for being a Father figure to a young boy when he didn't have one.

My Dear Sister Barbie - I would like to tell you and others my special feelings for Mike. Early in my life I had many dark days which isolated family members and friends. During this time I never lost contact with you and Mike. When I called and Mike answered he never judged me - all he would say is, are you alright and please continue calling Barbie because she worries about you. You both never gave up on me. Most of all - which is hard to find the words - I am so grateful how you and Mike honored our mother's wishes to keep Lisa Gail safe and loved. He treated Lisa like his seconded child and loved her very much. What can you say about a man this giving and caring? Thank you both for keeping our family together. Barbie I know you have lost your soulmate and during this time of pain and sorrow life might not seem so good - BUT please look around you at all the living souls who you and Mike have brought into your life, who want to be there for you and help you through this difficult time. Barbara, I was very saddened to see Mike's passing in the paper. Mike was alot of fun in school and it's sad as we move on in life, we lose contact with friends. I have known Mike Anzio since I was 17 years old. I still can't believe he is gone. I loved him for his wit and warmth, and generosity. I loved him for being so supportive of my Daughters. But most of all I loved him because he loved my best friend. Barbara, my heart breaks for you, Eddie, Josh and Lisa. But I know the special relationship the two of you had. Dear Barb,
My prayer and wish for you is that God will grant you strength, peace and courage during such a difficult time. You will always have Mike in your life with the memories you have created over the last 39 years. One of the best memory is the birth of Eddie and how happy and excited you both were and whenever you want to see Mike's face again, just look at your son and you will see Mike.
I know that life will be different without Mike, but I also know that Lisa, Eddie and Josh and I really need you in our daily lives. You are a wonderful example of a person who gives love so freely and never ask for anything in return and you hold the family together. You are much stronger than you may realize and you have proven that time and time again. Lisa, Eddie, Josh and I need you in our lives and we will always be there for you and I promise you will never be alone.
You need to mourn for Mike, as we all do but you must also realize that God will take care of Mike now and you need to let us take care of you.
I love and admire you more than you will ever know. My life would not be the same without having you as my sister.
To Lisa, Eddie and Josh I send you my love and deepest sympathy because I know that you all loved Mike and I know he loved you too. I am sure you will miss having him in your daily lives but he will always be in your heart and memories forever.
I know Mike well enough that he would want and expect you all to go on living life to the fullest because I believe that is how Mike lived his life. Many times he would say he was living on borrowed time but he also said that he would make the best of what time he did have and I want you to do the same and Mike would too.
The sorrow we all share of Mike's passing won't ever go away completely, but it will get better over time and we will be there for each other. My deepest love to you all.
