Robert Adolf Stewart

NEWPORT NEWS - Robert Adolf "Ada" Stewart departed this life on Friday, November 27, 2015, at the Riverside Rehabilitation Center Algonquin in Hampton, Virginia. Ada was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a retiree of the Newport News Public School system. He also worked for Hiden Storage Company in his youth. Born November 26, 1934, Ada was the fourth of seven children of the late Robert and Margaret Stewart of Newport News. He was predeceased by his oldest brother, William Henry "Snooks" Stewart. Ada was baptized at an early age and recommitted his life to Jesus Christ prior to his departure. Ada enlisted in the Air Force in 1953, where he served until his discharge as an Airman 2nd Class Recreational Specialist in 1957. Ada was awarded the Veterans Honorary High School Diploma in 2009 by the Virginia Dept. of Education. He leaves to cherish his memory his sisters Margaret D. Wilson and Ruth S. Venable of Newport News; Laura S. Green of Waldorf, MD; Audrey Coles of Pennsylvania and Doris Burley of Newport News; brothers James Stewart of Hampton, Wylfred Stewart and Dempsey Spencer of Newport News; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. The family wishes to acknowledge Dr. Sharon Petitjean and the staffs at Riverside PACE Hampton and Riverside Rehabilitation Center Algonquin for their loving care. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 4, at 11:00 a.m. at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601 27th Street, Newport News. Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Memorial Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Repast will be held the North Newport News Community Center, 605 South Avenue, Newport News, VA.
