Aunt Alice, Bruce , Rebecca and Family. I will keep you in my thoughts today as your honor "Uncle Bob" as he was always known to me .
I still have many of the things that my father saved as a testament to the friendship that Bob and my Dad had for over half a century. Pictures from UVM,the cross country trip to Yellowstone, pictures from the camp in Bethel , newspaper clippings from his service to our country ,as well as letters and tapes Bob sent ,and finally pictures of reunions over the years. I have fond memories of field trips as a teenager to some of the birthplaces of our history courtesy of Uncle Bob and Aunt Alice! I remember going through the gates at Langley in " Ol Blue" and getting saluted ! That was something to a 13 year old boy !To this day I still tell the story of the private tour of the USS Eisenhower that UB arranged for us. I was so proud of Uncle Bob, and I know my Dad was too. So many memories. I could go on and on.
The Sturks kept my fathers memory alive and I am thankful for that. I will close with an example of Bob's humor that some have mentioned here. This fall I had shared my deer harvest story with Uncle Bob. I had told him that the Spike Deer wasn't very big, and I felt bad as the next day a rather big buck presented itself. Bob simply said " I wouldn't be ashamed of the Buck you harvested, and I wouldn't have waited for anything bigger" . "Besides, you can't eat the horns" .
I hope stories like this will give you comfort in the days to come.

I will miss Mr. Bob's quick wit and droll humor. He always made me laugh. His love and devotion to Ms. Alice was one to be emulated, and I'll miss hearing him tell vivid stories of their life together. He will be missed!
Prayers and great love to Ms. Alice and the entire family in this time of grief. <3
