Ruby Lemon Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Ruby Frances Lemon, 92, left her earthly home for her Heavenly home on February 15, 2017. Ruby served her Lord faithfully and was a member of Providence Baptist Church, taught Sunday School, participated in the Friendly and Ruth Sunday School classes and was a member of the Alice Fields Missionary Circle. For many years she worked in the Gloucester County Commissioner of Revenue office. She was kind, thoughtful and always caring of her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and we were blessed to have her in our lives. We will miss her, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever. She was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Lemon. She is survived by her children, William V. Lemon, Jr. (Christina), Patrick F. Lemon (Vickie), Launa M. Lemon, Edward E. Lemon (Mary) and Delia (DeDe) H. Lemon; grandchildren, Greta Lemon, Aleta Lemon, William "Will" Lemon III, Shawn Lemon, Paul Lemon, William "Billy" Lemon, Robert Altrath, Nathan Altrath, Stephen Altrath, Heather Maranan, Joseph Martin, Rachel Martin and Zachary Taylor Phillips; and 21 great grandchildren. Funeral service officiated by Reverend William Corey and Reverend Bill West will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 18, 2017, at Providence Baptist Church, Hayes. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service on Saturday from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. at the church. In memory of Ruby the family desires memorial contributions be sent to Providence Baptist Church, 3501 Providence Road, Hayes, VA 23072 or Beech Grove Baptist Church, P. O. Box 100, White Marsh, VA 23183. I look down at this hand in mine, the one I've held countless times throughout my life. Time has taken it's toll, but it looks like the same hand I held as I walked up the church steps as a child. The one I held so many times as we prayed. I will never forget those hands but now I have to give them to Jesus as He leads her home. One day when I see Jesus, I know we will hold hands again.
