Terrence Lawrence Obituary

Terrence Andre Lawrence was born to Kenneth James Lawrence Sr. and Maude Leilokelani Lawrence on August 23, 1964 in Hampton, VA. Terrence was an inquisitive youngster and developed an early love of the arts. His penmanship rivaled professional calligraphy. He honed his drawing skills with precision. Terrence was a trumpet player virtuoso and his melodic tunes spanned jazz, R&B, and contemporary genres. Terrence was an exceptional student in his early years at Robert E. Lee Elementary, Lindsay Jr. High, and Hampton High school. He was a masterful mathematician and Computer Scientist. Terrence earned a B.S. in mathematics and minor in philosophy at Christopher Newport University. He earned a M.S. in Computer Science at Hampton University. Terrence achieved over 20 years of professional excellence. He was selected as a Principal Software Systems Engineer at LEIDOS. Terrence led software design, developed complex distributed real-time sensor architectures, high performance computing, data visualization, and digital signal processing. Terrence made significant scientific research contributions to NASA and the Department of Defense. Terrence enjoyed watching movies, spending time with his family and engaging family, friends and colleagues on social media. He had a great sense of humor, and he was a devoted Washington, D.C. Commanders fan. He often posted thought provoking quotes on social media that spoke from his heart.

"Life is the most difficult exam. Many people fail because they try to copy others, not realizing that everyone's test is different."

Terrence is survived by his Mother, Maude Leilokelani Lawerence, brothers; Kenneth Lawrence Jr. (Gogi) Victor Lawrence (Trudy), sisters; Charlene Crawford (Mornell), Renita Anderson (Ronald), nephews, nieces, and aunts, and cousins.

I am saddened to learn the passing of Terrence Lawrence at this time. He grew up next door to my brother and I am friends with his Mother Maude and the rest of his family. He will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
