Thomas David Norum

1944 - 2022

Thomas David Norum, 78, died Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Born in Bronx, NY, he had been a Hampton resident for the last 50 years where he was a member of St. Rose of Lima and the Korean Martyrs Catholic Church. He retired from NASA as a Research Engineer in 2008 after 35 years of service. Through the years Mr. Norum had taught mathematics at Thomas Nelson Community College. He enjoyed playing chess, Free Cell Solitaire, and Spades. Always one to be active, He was an avid swimmer, played tennis, and played, coached and umpired for the softball League at NASA. He was also a member of the AeroAcoustics Research Consortium.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ellen Norum and a brother, James Norum. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lucrecia Norum; his daughter, Lynn Johnson; his son, Vance Norum (Rachel); two brothers, John Norum and Daniel Norum; two granddaughters, Alyanna and Sophie; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. Rose of Lima and the Korean Martyrs Catholic Church with a Mass of the Resurrection beginning at 2PM. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
