Virginia Marable Obituary

CHARLES CITY - Virginia Marable, 86, of Charles City, passed away peacefully at her daughters home on May 20, 2009.
She was born in Chicota, Texas, on Dec. 30, 1922, to the late Addie Lee and George Brown. Virginia met her husband while he was stationed at Camp Maxey, Texas. He found her picking cotton in a field and fell in love at first sight. They married and lived in Texas for four years, where they had a son, Jamie. After moving to Charles City they had their daughter, Linda. Virginia loved working outside in her garden each year. She enjoyed canning her vegetables, was a great cook and a wonderful mother.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold C. Marable in 1987.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Jamie Marable and wife, Ann; a daughter, Linda Gardener and husband, Glen; six grandchildren, Dean, Cheryl, Mandi, Paul, Ricky and Christi; 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 22, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Laburnum Chapel, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23. Interment will follow at Washington Memorial Park. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Linda,Jamie and family. Praying for you all. We all have very fond memories of Aunt Gin and Uncle Harolds visit. They always made us laugh.She sure looks alot like Dad,still a very beautiful lady. We all have blessed hope of being together some day, love and prayers.

James Harold and family . we want you to know that our prayers are with you and Linda at this time of loss. Aunt Gin was always a treat to us when she and her family would come down for a vist. We will miss her and we hope you guys will understand that we would like to be there with you. Dear Linda,Jamie and Family,
I was saddened to hear of Aunt Gin's passing and sorry for your loss. I know you all will miss Aunt Gin greatly, especially all ot the grandchildren. You all have lost a precious Mother and Grandmother and we have lost the last of Dad's generation.It was always an exciting time when Aunt Gin & Uncle Harold would show up at Mom & Dad's for a visit.
