Wallace Ruffin Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Wallace Ruffin, 81, departed this life on Monday, May 16, 2005. Born May 11, 1924, in Garysburg, N.C., he later moved to Newport News, Va. He served in the United States Navy after which he was employed at the Newport News Shipyard and later retired from Fort Eustis. He loved spending time with family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memories three daughters: Shirley Grant, of Newport News, Eloise Perry, of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., and Lois Lucas, of North Carolina; two sisters; Bessie Robinson of Newport News, and Willie Johnson of Tacoma, Wash., one foster sister, Mary Lanham of Washington, D.C.; two brothers Robert Ruffin of Hampton, and Cornelius Ruffin of Newport News; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held noon Saturday, May 21 at First Church Newport News (Baptist). Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, May 20, with a wake service starting at 6 p.m., and two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be private. Professional services entrusted to the Franklin - Fisher Funeral Home.

Ms. Grant and Denise,

I'm sorry to hear about your father and grandfather. He was a very nice person. I still remember how he used to walk around the corner on his way to the corner store. My mother found out about his passing before I did and she's all the way in Georgia. I'm sorry that I could not make the funeral because I did not found out in time.Just remember to trust in the Lord and he will see you through this hard time. God bless you and your family.
