Yong Wie Obituary

YORKTOWN - Dr. Yong Sun Wie, Ph.D., 49, passed away at the Medical College of Virginia Medical Center, Friday, Feb. 22, 2002, after a lengthy illness. Dr. Wie was born in Mok Po City, Korea, Feb. 26, 1952. He was the son of Tae Yeon Wie and the late Kyang Kwa Lee Wie. He graduated from Seoul National University in 1976. He then came to the United States and attended North Carolina State University and graduated with a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering in 1987. Yong then came to work at NASA as a contractor associated with High Technology Corp. and continued his career until 1999. He was a member of Hilton Korean Christian Church, Newport News. In addition to his father, Dr. Wie is survived by his beloved wife, Won Wie; his son, John Moon Kyung Wie; and daughter, Jane Eunhee Wie, both of the home. He is also survived by two sisters and three brothers. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with the Rev. Peter Chang officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and at other times in the home. Arrangements are in the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 North Armistead Avenue, Hampton.***.
