Elaina B. "Ellie" Wheelock

Elaina Blair "Ellie" Wheelock, 46, of Capon Bridge, WV went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the Winchester Medical Center.
Ellie was born on September 9, 1978, in Charlottesville, VA, daughter of the late Beverley "Jeanie" Martin Tanner and William "Billy" Tanner (Cindy) of Aroda, VA. She previously worked as a physical education and kindergarten teacher, she was a 1996 graduate of Madison County High School, received her bachelor's degree from Shenandoah University and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Winchester, VA.
Ellie received many accolades through her athletic career including in high school- All State High School Volleyball (2 years), All State High School Softball (3 years), District Volleyball Player of the Year. Her college career - 1st Team All-Conference in both Volleyball and Softball (All 4 years) 1st Team All-Conference in Basketball (1 year), All-Conference 25 Year Top 50 Player for both Volleyball and Softball and was inducted into the Shenandoah University Hall of Fame. She enjoyed coaching the youth, where she walked hand in hand with her husband Bobby in his ministry in Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Recently she loved to follow and watch her daughter Hayley in all her sports and activities.
Ellie married Dale Robert "Bobby" Wheelock, Jr. on August 5, 2006, in Stephens City, VA.
Surviving with her father and husband of 18 years is her daughter: Hayley Grace Wheelock of Capon Bridge, WV; her brother Jarrod Tanner (Jackie) of Culpeper, VA; aunts Becky Martin Vaughan (Bobby) of Crewe, VA. Cyndi Martin Colston (Bobby) of Midlothian, VA; cousins Jamie Vaughan Gregory (Trey) and their children Brandt, Shelten and Langston of Moseley, VA and Ashley Colston Jernigan (Bruce) and their children Jensen and Everett of Goose Creek, SC; her in-laws: Dale and Luanne Wheelock of Capon Bridge, WV; her brothers-in-law: Dustin (Mandee) and their children: Miyhi, Tiylin, Amiya, Kiylel and Iliya all of Ocean City, MD; Derek (Emily) and their children: Leeland, Hudson and Sawyer all of Winchester, VA.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 844 Amherst St, Winchester, VA from 12:30-2 PM followed by a Celebration of Ellie's life at 2 PM. Officiating will be Pastor Philip King.
