Dear Ginger, Waverly, Michael and other family members who join me in grief for our cousin C. Waverly Parker, Sr.
To me, he was like my little brother. We shared many memories from childhood. I was especially close to his mother, Louise, whom I called "Auntie".
When he was a young boy he had a beautiful boy soprano voice but I don´t think it was appreciated in Chase City at that time.
Before their deaths, his father, Waverly, and my father, Dr. J.
Reginald Bailey, used to enjoy fishing together especially on Wednesdays when the office was closed.
Calvin and I always kept in touch over the years. He especially liked Mahler, so if I heard a Mahler symphony coming on the radio, I would call and tell him and somehow he was always able to tune in and listen with me but we often would reach out to each other just because the other had come to mind. We used to have a blast doing sing-alongs too.
One of our Patterson cousins, Sandra Patterson Brown, and I used to make him ride Beautiful the mule at Montrose down in Littleton.
We were just as much friends as we were kin. Between college and graduate school he hitchhiked from UVA to Mather Air Force Base in Sacramento where Tom was stationed and where Dan was born.
When I would fly into Richmond we would visit our cousin, Yvonne Carden Phythian. She knew him when he was growing up. We did some mean pranks to him when we were kids. We would ask him if he wanted a piece of candy and then give him a green olive with the seed still in it. I don´t think he liked green olives for the rest of his days. Anyway, we shared some wonderful memories. I already miss him very much, as I am sure you all do as well. He´s on my mind quite a lot. He was a great person and I hope you can all find peace with his passing, as I am struggling to do. Please stay in touch.
With much love,

I always enjoyed getting to know, and waiting on Mr Parker, at Colonial Auto Service Center, for over 20 years. My sincere condolences to his family, friends and coworkers. RIP Sir!
