Janet Irene Chamlee

March 24, 1941 - May 6, 2025

Janet Irene Chamlee, 84, died Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Bridgewater Retirement Community, where she had resided for the last four years. She was born on March 24, 1941, in Delaware to the late Leonard Raymond and Alice Virginia (Fountain) Black.

Janet was united in marriage to James Weldon Chamlee, who preceded her in death on July 6, 2020. She is survived by three children, Constance Taylor and husband David of Bridgewater, Va.; Lynette Patterson and husband John of Franktown, Va.; and James L. Chamlee and wife Kathy of Broken Arrow, Ok., as well as five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, father, and husband, Janet was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Jane Vandy of Chesterfield, Va.

Throughout her life, Janet enjoyed a wide variety of needle arts and was a master quilter. She and her husband James were also ardent supporters of the United States military and frequently donated to soldiers abroad.

The family will hold a private memorial. Arrangements are entrusted to Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service in Bridgewater, Va. Online condolences may be sent to the family at johnsonfs.com.
