Alfred Burford Obituary
Joe served during the Korean War in the U.S. Navy. After discharge from the Navy, Joe and his wife moved to Charlottesville where he attended UVA, earning a BS in Electronical Engineering.
Joe worked at Sperry, NRAO and FSTC in Charlottesville. He was the Owner/President of A. J. Associates, Inc. in Charlottesville where he designed and manufactured radar antenna and pedestals sold worldwide.
He is survived by two children, a daughter, Susan Hale (David) and a son, Alfred J. Burford II (Rosa); four grandchildren, Eric Hale (Jess), Kevin Hale, Abigail Burford and Alfred J. Burford III; and a good friend, Karla Klumpp Berger.
Memorial plans are pending. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to The Hospice of the Piedmont or All Blessings Flow.

Uncle Joe was an awesome person. My mom and I took a vacation to Myrtle Beach in 1991. We had car problems, and uncle Joe invited us to spend the night at his house. He spent his 38th wedding anniversary working on my car. I felt bad that he was spending his wedding anniversary working on my car, but he didn't seemed bothered by it. He used blue glue to fix my car's emblem. He jokingly said that I could tell all my friends about the blue glue that he used. I also want to add that his wife, June was also an awesome person. Rest in peace uncle Joe and aunt June.

Susan, sending you and the family my sincerest condolences for your loss of "Mr. Joe." The time I spent with him I enjoyed his many stories and our talks and laughter together. It was a true pleasure meeting him and I will miss seeing him.
