Alison Warner Waterman "Ali", 102, died on April 4, 2021, at Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge in Charlottesville, Va.

Ali was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, William W. Waterman; her sister, Jean Smith and Jean's son, Warner Smith; and her sister and brother-in-law, Beatrix and John Gordon.

She is survived by her family, Colby G. Johnson (Peter), Bruce B. Gordon (Megan LeBoutillier) and Rod W. Gordon and their families, all of Charlottesville, Va.; Phyllis S. Strain of Boyton Beach, Fla.; Stanton Waterman and his family of Princeton, N.J.

Born in Hartsdale, N.Y., to Frances O. Warner and Ralph Finley Warner on May 9, 1918, she grew up in Tokeneke, Darien, Connecticut, attended St. Margaret's School in Tappahannock, Va., and graduated from Marot Junior College in Thompson, Conn. Ali was the granddaughter of the American sculptor Olin Levi Warner.

On December 25, 1942, she married Will Waterman of Montclair, N.J. After his wartime service they bought a farm in Somerset, Va. and begin raising Angus Cattle and Southdown Sheep. Ali was a prolific gardener and was an active member of the Dolly Madison Garden Club of Orange County, Va., and the Garden Club of Virginia.

Much gratitude goes to the staff and friends at Westminster Canterbury, Charlottesville, who cared for Ali over the years.

At her request, a private interment will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, Cismont, Va.
