I was a volunteer on MOBI a few times and I was blown away by his amazing attitude - so young and yet he coordinated nurses, clients and volunteers and if there was a concern he was the leader that brought us all together to do what was right. He will be so missed

We met Drew through our son, Ryen, who was also in Pi Kapp. Ryen recruited him to help us move into our new home and Drew accompanied me to run errands that day. He was initially quiet but so helpful, sweet and well-mannered. We got to spend time with Drew again when he stayed with us for several days this past fall to visit Ryen before his move out of state. We enjoyed meals and conversation together and he was still sweet but also engaging and talkative. We learned he had quite a sense of humor and was extremely funny! He had a smile on his face every day and talked about his job at the BRHD. He was so proud of the work he was doing and that not only showed in his words but the look at accomplishment on his face when he talked about his job. I know our son thought the world of him and I am so glad they were friends. To Drew's family, there is not anything we can say that will ease one moment of your pain, but we hope that the anecdotes shared by people who knew him can one day replace a tiny bit of that pain with a smile, knowing how much he impacted those who knew him.

Drew was an unusual and wonderful young man. He was serious, at times, but not always. He also loved fun. He was a dedicated worker at the Blue Ridge Health District. Drew was someone you could always count on. When I was registering people (for vaccines) and we started getting busy, I would look over at Drew and he was already there with his computer, helping with the work. He was the "King" of Mobi (our mobile unit). He had a system for getting LOTS of chairs onto Mobi and we dare not get in his way. We could only hand him chairs and tables as quickly as we could as he was always ahead of us. He took care of all of us, passing out parking passes as needed, letting us know of any changes we could anticipate. He was incredible. I don't know how we go on without Drew. Except that we won't be without Drew. He will live on in every positive interaction we have, every good deed we do, and every success we achieve. We could not do it without Drew in our hearts. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Tate for the best son in the world. ~On Behalf of the Blue Ridge Health District.
