I didn't know Andy that well. I only really met him once, though saw him thousands of times in the hospital and knew conversed while one of us charted in the EMS charting room at UVA. But the short time I spend with him was inspirational. Andy was a great man. In the short time I knew him I observed him to be a loving father as well as a man who loved to joke around a be goofy. In that manor he's a lot like me, which I believe is why I think he was so inspirational. I felt that it was the least I could do for Andy to help his squad out by staffing his county while his friends and family, both EMS and biological attended his ceremony.

Rest in Peace Andy, you are, and will always be missed.

His family is and has been in my thoughts and prayers since I heard of the event. God bless you all.

To Brian, Pattie, Callie, and the rest of Andy's family. I have only known Andy for a short 3 years but enjoyed every minute I knew him. I met him working out in Greene County with medic 5 and then he came to work for UVA. He was truly a great friend. One that I loved hanging out with. I will miss his kowledge of one line comments from movies and TV shows. How he could recite them like he had seen the show 100 times. His charm and humor will be missed. I will also miss running squad with him. His compassion for his patients and willing to learn was hands down none like anyone else I know. I keep waiting outside the ER doors waiting for him to walk up with that bright orange coat on and saying "Whats up?" Then adding a Rick James comment. It was just at the Superbowl that he came over and hung out for a while with a bunch of his friends and myself. He was so happy and seemed so full of life. I was in stiches the entire time from him making all of us laugh. Andy I will truly miss you. You were a great friend and I just don't know what we will do without you. I miss my friend.

My most sincere condolences go out to the entire family and friends that have lost this dear sweet soul. No amount of kind words can possibly bring you comfort at this time. Know that Andy is in a beautiful place and would wish you no pain.In the brief time that I got to know Andy his kindness and willingness to help others was obvious. He will be missed, but always adored.

To all of Andy's friends and family,
Andy was and always will be one of the best friends that I have ever had. I will miss him more than I could ever begin to explain. I know that we all will. I looked up to Andy so much, he had become what I want to be. I thank him for all the times he pushed me to keep doing what I dreamed and can only hope and pray that I did just a little for him compared to what he has done for me. I would like to thank you Brian, and Patti for bringing such a wonderful man into this world. For the rest who had a hand in raising him thank you for I know that he would have not been the man he was without you. As all have said before please let me know if there is ANY thing that I can do for you. Also remember that Andy will always be in our hearts and minds, and that wonderful baby he brought into this world will always be our reminder of how great he is.

Andy... I will never forget the night we sat together at the staging area the night Rodney died, trying to comfort each other when we heard the news. We barely knew each other but found it easy to talk and console each other. Thank you for making an unbearable night just that much easier to bear. I will miss your smiling face coming through the squad house door and the funny stories you had to tell. Every time I hear a Metallica song I will think of you Andy. Your untimely death reminds us all to live each day to the fullest. My heart goes out to your family. You will be missed and thought of every day.
