Anthony Rodriquez White
July 30, 1966 - July 6, 2021
Anthony R. White 54, of Charlottesville, Va., known as "Tony", departed this life at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. Born on July 30, 1966, Tony was the son of the late Robert Lee White and Frances Bowles Lee both of Keswick, Va.
He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Letitia Gardner and Maude White; his special aunt, Beatrice Smith also known as "Aunt Bea"; and his uncles, Robert Bowles, Edgar Grady Jr., James, Phillip, and Richard White.
He leaves to cherish in his memory his children, Terrence White, Brooke Grooms, and Irvin Miller, all of Charlottesville, Va.; two granddaughters, Aria and Lailani, both of Charlottesville, Va.; two sisters, Melody Adams and her husband, Kevin, of Mahwah, N.J., and Nina Fortune of Keswick, Va.; one brother Jeffrey White Sr. of Charlottesville, Va.; one grandfather, Robert Gardner of Cismont, Va.; one great aunt, Marjorie Quarles of Cismont, Va.; three aunts, Susie Bowles, Florence Grady, and Annie Holden, all of Charlottesville, Va.; three uncles, James and Bobby Gardner, both of Cismont, Va., and Wayne Gardner of Orlando, Fla.; five nieces, two nephews, 11 great-nieces, and nephews; a special cousin, Michelle Christian (Scoot); his partner, Michelle Collier; their dogs, Cooper and Cookie; longtime friend, Lanita Kimble; numerous cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.
Tony loved the Lord. He was a member of Evergreen Ministries lead by the Reverend Dr. Stanley E. Woodfolk.
Tony received his formal education in Albemarle County Schools. Graduated Albemarle High School Class of 1985. He was employed with the City of Charlottesville for the past 4 years as a Maintenance Worker III.
Tony loved spending time with family and friends. He had a special connection with all children he came in contact with. He was a gentle giant that touched everyone's heart. Even when he called you " Knuckle Head"," Chicken Head", " Chump" and "Bum" it was always received with love even when he grabbed you on the back of your neck with his heavy hands. Besides spending time with family Tony was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved to meet up with his fellow bikers to cruise the streets of Charlottesville as well as the surrounding counties. When he wasn't riding his bike he enjoyed playing poker, spades, chess, horseshoes, and corn-hole. He also enjoyed his weekly dinners with the fellas. Tony was well-loved and will be missed by all.
A viewing will be held Friday, July 16, 2021, from 12 until 6 p.m. at J.F. Bell Funeral Home Chapel, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at 11 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, 3056 Louisa Road, Keswick, VA 22947. MASKS ARE REQUIRED AT THE SERVICE. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
