Barbara Louise Stiles Delage, 98 years old, of Dogwood Village in Orange, Virginia, died early Sunday morning, July 18, 2021. She was born on April 18, 1923, in Bellows Falls, Vermont, the daughter of Wallace Guy Stiles and Velma May Jordon. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Armand Delage and her son, Denis Wayne Delage.

She is survived by a daughter, Jeannie Uhlman and her husband, Bill, of Westborough, Massachusetts; a son, Richard Delage and his wife, Louise, of Bowling Green, Virginia; two grandchildren, Kenneth Delage and Nicole Marr and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a life-long friend and "adopted" daughter, Priscilla Cordeau of Naples, Florida.

Barbara lived in Hopkinton, Massachusetts until moving to Aroda, Virginia, 40 years ago. She will be remembered for her love of family and dear neighbors. She loved her cats and viewed them as cherished companions. She enjoyed gardening, daily walks and crafts. Her crocheted book marks in the shape of a cross were generously given to everyone who crossed her path. She won a number of blue ribbons for her crocheting from the Orange County Fair

Six years ago, Barbara and her family donated The Lord's Prayer a crocheted project that took her seven months to complete. The magnificent piece is hanging in the Chapel at Dogwood Village.

A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at Culpeper Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, 2 p.m., Culpeper, Va. She will be laid to rest joining her husband, Richard and her son, Denis. The service will be conducted by her grandson, Pastor Kenneth Delage of Mercy Hill Community Church, Spotsylvania, Virginia. Donations may be made in the name of Barbara Delage to Dogwood Village of Orange, Virginia. Arrangements were handled by Preddy Funeral Home of Orange, Virginia.
