Arthur Kermit Bryant, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, passed away peacefully in his home in Nellysford, Va., on Tuesday, October 13, 2015.He is survived by his wife, Elsie Shiflett Bryant to whom he was married to for 63 yrs; his children, Gary W. Bryant (Shari) of Vernon, N.Y., Sharon K. Flores (Tony) of Felton, Pa., David S. Bryant (Cheryl) of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., Karen E. Bryant of Glen Burnie, Md., and Amy L. Bryant of Nellysford, Va.; his grandchildren, Gary, Kristina, Donald, TJ, Sean, and Derek; his five great-grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Hughes (Gordon) of Nellysford, Va., and Earleen Berthold of Lovingston, Va.; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family loved ones.He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Thomas and Lola Truslow Bryant of Faber, Va.; his son, Richard A. Bryant of Lovingston, Va.; his brother, John Bryant of Hudson, Mass.; and his sister, Hilda Thurston (Russell) of Crozet, Va.Art returned to his hometown of Nellysford in the mid 1990s after retiring from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Md. where he worked diligently for 42 years as a mill inspector. An avid sports lover, he was also involved in his community, volunteering as a coach and manager in little league basketball and baseball, along with serving as president of their Recreation Council. He loved his Baltimore Orioles and enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing, card games, bowling, fishing, vegetable gardening and the New York Times crossword puzzles.A graveside service will be held at Rockfish Valley Baptist Church in Nellsyford on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at 2 p.m. at which time both Arthur and his aforementioned son, Richard, will be interred. Afterwards, there will be a brief family reception in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Pkwy #300, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
